Hey there! Thanks for stopping by to learn more about Asmus Tax & Accounting, and the team that makes it unique.

We're definitely not your typical accounting office. Our priority is extraordinary customer service with a focus on teaching. While it's our job to know the tax laws, we also enjoy helping our clients gain an understanding of them, so we can work together to identify ways to reduce your tax liability and increase refunds.
As an Enrolled Agent, I have over 35 years of experience in the fields of tax consulting and financial services. My wife, Phyllis, and I moved our family to Karlstad from the Minneapolis area in 2004, and purchased the accounting business, that was formerly owned by Dan Fulton, in 2008. Since then, our business continues to grow each year thanks to references from the amazing folks we consider friends more than clients.

My personal priority has always been to lead a team-oriented business that focuses on long-term client relationships. Our clients are given our personal cell phone numbers and know they can call anytime ... day, night, weekend, or holiday and we'll answer their questions.

As Phyllis and I have been very active with children, our business is also very family-oriented. After adopting five foster children over the years, and now raising three grandchildren, we know how hectic life can get. In fact, if you call my cell phone, there's a good chance one of the grandkids will beat me to the phone to play receptionist. They're getting pretty good at that!

In my free time ... if there is such a thing ... I enjoy woodworking, hunting, sausage-making, rooting for the Vikings, and spending time with family. I look forward to your call and learning how our team can best serve your needs.

Blessed to be raised in the small town of Roseau, I acquired a passion for customer service while working in my parents' Ben Franklin stores from the age of 8. Upon graduation, I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth, and later my bachelor's degree in Accounting from St Cloud State University.
After nearly 20 years of living and working in other cities with my first husband and our two children, I feel so fortunate to be back home in the Roseau area doing the type of work I truly love with an amazing team of coworkers. In 2019, I married the love of my life, Brent, nearly 30 years later than I would have, had I opened my eyes to see what was right in front of them in college. It has been a fun and interesting journey becoming a "farmer's wife" and helping where I can on the family farm. My parents are still in shock to see me drive a tractor.

After spending a few years working for a public accounting firm in St. Cloud, MN, I transitioned to a career in corporate accounting and human resource management for a title & abstract business, an electrical contracting company, a precision granite manufacturer, and the Grand Forks Airport Authority before moving back to Roseau to work for Asmus Tax & Accounting in 2016. The "accounting" side of the business is my specialty, specifically QuickBooks bookkeeping and payroll. Above all, client relationships are my number one priority. In the past few years, I have discovered a love for yoga, meditation, and personal growth. I am slowly learning the beauty of letting go, and that I can accomplish so much more when I take some time to breathe, get my thoughts together, and delegate. My mission is to help other busy entrepreneurs find this same sense of peace and balance in their lives.
I believe ... Elvis will always be The King ... the best place to start any day is on my yoga mat ... and today is a beautiful day of opportunity. Namaste my friends.
